The perfect place for a getaway break
The house is nestled in the heart of the Burren National Park next to Mullaghmore Mountain overlooking the Burren landscape. Now recognized as a Geopark due to its geological importance it is incredibly beautiful, with great scenery, peace and tranquility. The Burren is home to a rare and precious landform called Karst a landscape where the rock is being chemically dissolved by rainwater. The region is of outstanding significance also in terms of wildflowers Arctic/Alpine/Mediterranean flowers growing side by side. It is estimated that there are about 4,000 archaeological monuments in the region thus making the Burren one of the richest archaeological landscapes in the north-west of Europe. The nearest village of Corofin (11km) is noted for its traditional music and an angler’s paradise surrounded by lakes including the picturesque Lake Inchiquinn also the splendid Dysert O’Dea Castle. There is a Free Bus Service from near the house May - Sept every hour to the village of Corofin.
The location is central to all North Clare attractions and a great touring base for the internationally recognized Cliffs of Moher, now a designated UNESCO site. Doolin caves and Doolin village - noted for its traditional Irish music pubs - are 35km away. From Doolin a one hour cruise is possible to experience the breath-taking views of the Cliffs of Moher by sea, or a trip to the Irish speaking Aran Islands including World Heritage site Dun Aongus. Killimer Car Ferry is 67 km from the house where you can travel by ferry from Clare to Kerry in just 20minutes.
